According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 1.7 million traumatic brain injuries (TBI) occur yearly, and TBI contributes to one-third of all injury-related deaths in the United States.
However, not all brain injuries are related to trauma. Stroke or brain tumors, for example, can also cause brain injuries.
