In her spare time:
“We have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Hank. We love taking the dog outside and enjoying the outdoors — I love to take pictures of nature.”

What makes UPMC Hamot special:
Dr. Wright’s office has a picturesque view of one of northwestern Pennsylvania’s natural treasures — Presque Isle Bay.

“I love Erie because everyone is just so friendly. It’s a very diverse place — everyone is so open and welcoming.”

Her dreams of becoming a physician:
“I’ve known I was going to be a doctor since I was a little girl. I always thought it would be in family practice, but I found that I love taking care of babies and their growing families. Obstetrics is my passion. I love deliveries.”

On finding the ob-gyn who’s right for you:
“Patients have to feel that they’re listened to, and that they’re cared for. When they come out of the office, they should have less anxiety than they did coming in.”

Bart L. Matson, DO

Specialty:
Obstetrics and gynecology

Where you’ll find him:
Magee-Womens Specialty Center at UPMC Hamot and Magee-Womens Specialty Services at UPMC Northwest.

About Dr. Matson:
Dr. Matson grew up in a small town 30 miles east of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He attended Lafayette College and graduated from medical school in 1994 at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

What makes UPMC Hamot special:
“The facility is absolutely state-of-the-art — it’s beautiful. And the people who work here are very dedicated, wonderful caregivers. They’re committed to doing the best they can for their patients.”

On what he loves about his job:
“I went into ob-gyn because it gave you the opportunity to offer primary care and a surgical specialty during one of the most important times in people’s lives.”

On finding the ob-gyn who’s right for you:
“Ask yourself, do you connect with the provider? Do they listen to you? Do you feel good about them? Granted, you can Google people and check them out in advance. But to me, it really should be more about the impression you get from them. Do they treat you with respect? Do you actually like them?”

Anand Noticewala, DO

Specialty:
Obstetrics and gynecology

Where you’ll find him:
Magee-Womens Specialty Center at UPMC Hamot

About Dr. Noticewala:
Dr. Noticewala was raised in India, where he also attended medical school. He completed his residency in Pittsburgh and spent a year practicing at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Southern California.

On running his own practice:
Before joining the team at UPMC Hamot, Dr. Noticewala operated his own ob-gyn practice in Meadville, Pennsylvania, where he delivered nearly 600 babies a year — about half the births performed at the community hospital where he worked.

On becoming an ob-gyn:
“I come from a family of doctors, so I had the opportunity to see a lot of different specialties growing up. My uncle was a very busy ob-gyn in Brooklyn. My other uncle was a surgeon. I thought I wanted to be an engineer — but I saw my mother diagnosed with breast cancer. In her later stages, I helped with much of her care.”

Where you’ll find him in his spare time:
Medicine runs in the family for Dr. Noticewala — his wife practices internal medicine.

“We have two boys, a 9-year-old and a 6-year-old. They’re into hockey, soccer, and skiing. When we’re not working, we’re spending time with their sports and activities.”

On finding the right ob-gyn:
“Every specialty is different. But in mine, it’s very important that your doctor has a good bedside manner. They’re not just there to talk about your health — but also the family and social aspects of care.”
