You woke up with a sore throat, traffic was a mess, and you walked into the office later than usual, so it looks like you’ll be working late – at this point, you may choose to skip going to the doctor’s office.
Or maybe, you’re at home with three kids, and one of them has a cough that is not getting any better. It’s a cold, rainy day, and you don’t feel much like bundling all three children to head out in the cold rain.
Sometimes, even when necessary, getting care for non-emergent symptoms is difficult. For those times, you might consider a virtual visit with a health care provider – and the new UPMC AnywhereCare app delivers that option right to your fingertips.
UPMC AnywhereCare has been enhanced with a new video platform that makes it easier and more convenient to complete a visit through your mobile device or computer. Using it offers patients flexible, convenient, high-quality care from your home, office, or anywhere.
Feeling under the weather? Below is a brief description on how to use UPMC AnywhereCare.
How to Use UPMC AnywhereCare
1. Download the App
To get started, download the free UPMC AnywhereCare app on your mobile device, or visit UPMCAnywhereCare.com on a computer.
2. Sign Up
When you open the app or visit the website on a computer, you’ll be prompted to enter your email address, create a password, and answer a few basic questions to enroll. Once enrolled, you can access UPMC AnywhereCare.
3. Choose a Provider
To learn more about a health care provider, click on the available provider’s photo. Select an available provider of your choosing.
4. Get Care
Prior to connecting live, you will be prompted to enter the reason for your visit and answer questions about your medical history. Your video visit will begin after a health care provider has reviewed this information. The average wait time to connect with a provider is around six minutes.
If you’re looking for fast care for non-emergent symptoms, a face-to-face virtual visit on UPMC AnywhereCare is your best bet. Virtual visits cost $49 or less, depending on your insurance provider; if you are a UPMC Health Plan member, the cost is less than a PCP office visit. Prescriptions, if needed, can be sent to a local pharmacy and must be paid for separately.
