The sportsplex contains a sprawling assortment of playing fields and other amenities, including:

  • 13 lighted baseball, football, lacrosse, and soccer fields.
  • Community garden.
  • Dek hockey rink.
  • Little Free Library.
  • Miracle League Field.
  • SportCourts, for basketball, bocce, horseshoes, pickleball, and tennis.
  • Paved bicycle/walking trail and bike repair station.
  • Picnic tables.
  • Pirates Charities “Out of the Park” playground.
  • Scout Centennial Plaza and Fishing Pond.

UPMC Passavant previously supported other initiatives including resurfacing the Miracle League field and building a storage and family restroom facility in Graham Park, and funding part of Kids Castle Playground in Cranberry Township’s Community Park.

Cranberry Community Days

Every July, the nonprofit Cranberry Township Community Chest hosts its annual Community Days, where businesses, faith communities, nonprofits, and civic groups come together to foster harmony and community. The annual fundraising event offers residents a variety of fun activities, including food trucks, live music, carnival rides, crafts, a pancake breakfast, the Community Chase 5K run/walk, vendors, a car cruise, and more.

UPMC Passavant has been the title sponsor of Community Days for the last decade, helping to promote health and wellness.

“We love being a part of the Cranberry Township community and helping with events and initiatives that support the area,” says Christine Finnell, operations specialist at UPMC Passavant–Cranberry.

In addition to many activities, Community Days features the Faux Martinis with Monet Art EXPO, where artwork from local artists is displayed and sold. Each year, UPMC Passavant receives a painting from the EXPO, which is proudly displayed in the lobby at UPMC Passavant–Cranberry.

“While we love reaching out and being an active member of the community, we also feel that it is important to bring a bit of the community inside our own doors,” says Finnell. “Through the local artwork from the EXPO, we showcase a part of the wonderful community that we serve.”

Cranberry CUP

Another local nonprofit, Cranberry Community Uniting People (Cranberry CUP), promotes community spirit and goodwill by partnering with other community projects year round. The group also hosts annual events to provide hope, support, and encouragement to individuals and families in the area who are experiencing hardships.

One of the organization’s signature events is the annual softball tournament held the first weekend in August. The game raises money to support the yearlong mission of the nonprofit. Each year, an individual or family experiencing a hardship chosen to receive assistance from the Cranberry CUP is honored during the event.

UPMC Passavant and the Passavant Hospital Foundation support the Cranberry CUP every year by sponsoring part of the event and fielding a team in the tournament. This year marks the team’s fifth consecutive championship in the Open Division. The Passavant Hospital Foundation’s mission is to support UPMC Passavant–McCandless and UPMC Passavant–Cranberry and advance health and wellness through education, outreach, and grantmaking.

Supporting the Community

UPMC Passavant is dedicated to supporting Cranberry Township in all aspects of the community, from medical care and education to personal fitness and recreation.

“The community in Cranberry Township is constantly changing and growing, and we need to be able to care for and accommodate everyone here,” says Finnell. “Having a close working relationship with the community is very important so that we are all aware of its needs and can help meet them, both now and in the future.”
