When Should I Visit a Walk-In Orthopaedic Clinic?

If you have an acute, non-life-threatening orthopaedic injury that requires care, you should visit the UPMC Orthopaedic Walk-In Injury Clinic. Our expert staff specializes in a wide range of bone, muscle, and joint conditions.

“UPMC Walk-In Orthopaedic Injury Clinic is staffed with well-trained, certified providers to treat various orthopaedic injuries,” says John Grandrimo, DO, orthopaedic surgeon, Arlington Orthopedics-UPMC. “The clinic enables us to respond to orthopaedic health concerns more quickly, resulting in exceptional patient care.”

A walk-in facility does not treat emergency situations such as a heart attack, trauma, major bleeding, chest pain, or difficulty breathing. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Department (ED).

Why Choose UPMC Orthopaedic Care?

UPMC Orthopaedic Care is an established, reputable leader. The UPMC Orthopaedic Injury Walk-In Clinic provides expert evaluation by orthopaedic specialists who have access to UPMC’s expansive network of support services. Patients receive a full continuum of care — from diagnosis to treatment and beyond.

The clinic is equipped with the latest diagnostic technology to provide immediate care for common orthopaedic or sports-related injuries. Splints, braces, and casts are available depending upon the medical need. Our goal is to help patients get back on their feet and feel healthy again.

“Once patients are assessed and treated at the clinic, our team will connect them with the necessary follow-up care and resources,” Dr. Grandrimo says. “This can include a referral to one of our specialists or scheduling rehabilitation services.”

Wait times at the clinic are shorter than an ED visit and copays are less expensive. Most insurance plans cover walk-in orthopaedic care.

The new location also helps with capacity issues at area hospitals, especially in the ED. Quick and convenient access to specialized care is accessible to busy individuals and families. No appointment is necessary, and the clinic is open during the evening and on weekends. Our hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Holiday hours may vary.

The new location also provides convenience to patients in central Pennsylvania. They can get timely, expert care for musculoskeletal injuries or pain close to home.
