For emergencies, routine care, and specialty care, UPMC Muncy is here.
Located in the eastern part of Lycoming County, UPMC Muncy has been serving the community for nearly 100 years, first starting in 1922 with 12 doctors in an old Victorian home. We’ve continually expanded to keep up with the needs of consumers growing into a full service hospital.
Plus, we’re part of the extensive UPMC system, made up of 40 hospitals. UPMC Muncy gives our communities access to everything UPMC has to offer. That includes active research to find cures for diseases and innovative therapies that save lives.

UPMC Muncy: Quality Care Close to Home
UPMC Muncy is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and importantly, is a critical access hospital. Critical access is a special designation for hospitals that provide high-quality care to more rural areas.
In addition to emergency care, we have 20 inpatient beds. And with lab and imaging services here, you don’t have to go elsewhere for blood work or diagnostic tests.
You also don’t have to leave the area for many kinds of specialty care. We offer:
- Heart and vascular care.
- Outpatient surgical services, with ophthalmology, orthopaedics, sports medicine, foot and ankle, pain management, neurological care, and gastroenterology.
- Orthopaedics and sports medicine.
- Physical and occupational therapy.
- Long term care and skilled nursing, including specialized ventilator unit and dementia care.
UPMC Muncy Offers Care for the Whole Family
Nobody wants to drive long distances for primary care. With UPMC Muncy, you don’t have to. We have a strong network of doctors, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners trained in family medicine.
For families in our community, this means:
- Same-day appointments (including some weekend and evening appointments).
- Walk-in care.
- Ability to talk to a nurse, 24/7.
- Video visits.
UPMC Muncy is one of five emergency departments in North Central Pennsylvania servicing both adult and pediatric emergencies.
Through our partnership with UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, our emergency department can access pediatric emergency specialists 24/7. We use telemedicine to collaborate in real-time with our emergency doctors and families. This means children get the right care from the right provider, in the right place, and at the right time.
UPMC Muncy families can also take advantage of UPMC AnywhereCare. AnywhereCare is UPMC’s easy and convenient way to get medical attention for many common conditions, where patients can initiate a video visit any time of the day or night.
Muncy Place: A Senior Community
Older adults who have been in the hospital often need to get stronger before returning to their living situation. Muncy Place helps them rehab with compassionate care and 24-hour assistance for daily living tasks.
Our Muncy Place senior community also caters to residents who might need to be here permanently or extended stays.
Located just off I-180, Muncy Place is the only senior care facility in the region connected to a critical care hospital. Family members can have peace of mind, knowing our doctors are there to care for their loved ones in an emergency.
Recovery from illness or injury can be frustrating. We know that people want to function as independently as they can. That’s why Muncy Place has some of the best rehab equipment available, plus occupational and speech therapists, as well as the specialized ventilator unit and dementia care.
UPMC Muncy Connects You to Advanced Care
There are several reasons why people choose UPMC.
We have facilities all over the world, where we study diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s. We offer organ transplants (and we were the world’s first to do several types of transplants). We’ve pioneered vaccines, robotic surgery, and other life-saving kinds of care.
We bring access to advanced treatments and medicine, with care starting locally at your hometown hospital.
