Performing your best is hard to do when you’re dehydrated. Whether your exercise is recreational or a little more serious, our bodies can become dehydrated easily, especially during the hot summer months. Our bodies are composed primarily of water, and proper hydration allows our body to function to the highest level. Leslie Bonci, director of the Sports Nutrition Program at the UPMC Center for Sports Medicine, offers guidelines on how to choose between a sports drink and water while exercising.
